COUNT DOWN
Infrastructure industry is being revolutionized by digital technologies and data science in digital era. It is foreseeable that modern data analytics will strongly support sustainable development of infrastructure sector. The joint workshop (2FOMLIG & 5MLIGD) provides a forum for researchers and practitioners to share recent advancements in machine learning (ML) in geotechnics and geological engineering (MLIG) and to discuss the development and applications of machine learning in assessment and management of reliability, risk, and resilience for geosystems and geohazards. The ultimate goal is to speed up the development of a new interdisciplinary field called data-centric geotechnics (that involves the integration of information, data, techniques, tools, perspectives, concepts, theories, and/or experiences from geotechnical engineering and machine learning) and to promote the applications of modern data analytics, including deep learning and large language model (LLM), in geotechnical and geological practice. ML or AI applications that demonstrate value to decision making in real-world projects using actual database are welcome. Other relevant topics have been discussed in the report “Future of Machine Learning in Geotechnics (FOMLIG), 5-6 Dec 2023, Okayama, Japan”, Georisk: Assessment and Management of Risk for Engineered Systems and Geohazards, 18(1), 288-303, 2024.
We are delighted to invite you to participate in the 2nd Workshop on Future of Machine Learning in Geotechnics (2FOMLIG) & the 5th Machine Learning in Geotechnics Dialogue (5MLIGD), taking place in Chengdu, China from October 11-13, 2024.
